Seeking Advice on Creating a Laser Cutting Log

Hello laser cutting enthusiasts!

I'm reaching out for some guidance on creating a comprehensive log or history of laser cutting activities using an RDC6442S-B (EC) controller and RDWorks software. Currently, we're manually recording the details on paper or typing them into the computer, which is not only cumbersome but also prone to inaccuracies.

Here are some specifics about our setup:

Current Recording Method: We jot down or type the cutting details, but it's not efficient or precise.

RDWorks Software: I couldn't find any built-in features for logging within RDWorks.

Open to Solutions: I'm open to any suggestions or solutions that would allow us to differentiate between various cutting jobs within a day.

USB and Network Connectivity: Some cuts are initiated via USB cable, and others through the network. Are there any challenges or considerations for monitoring these two communication methods?

Desired Log Information: Ideally, we'd like the log to include an image or representation of the cut, along with the date, time, and duration of the cut.

Format Flexibility: We are open to any format for recording the complete data of each cut.

If anyone has experience or insights into setting up a more efficient and accurate logging system for laser cutting activities, especially with the RDC6442S-B (EC) controller and RDWorks software, your input would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

I am not familiar with any auto logging function. There is a built in function to ma jelly capture the key parameters in the library within rdworks.

Hello!

Thank you for your response. I understood the part about the lack of an automatic logging function. However, I'd like to delve deeper into the option mentioned regarding the built-in function to capture key parameters in the library within RDWorks.

Currently, I'm only aware of the simulation tool in RDWorks, but as far as I know, it doesn't provide an option to save simulation values. Could you please provide more specifics on how to use this function or if there are other suggestions that might suit the need to record details such as date, time, and duration of each cut?

I appreciate your further assistance and guidance!

You might want to look at Lightburn software- they have a lot more functions and are improving it all the time.

" record details such as date, time, and duration of each cut?"
RDWORKS has not function that will do anything automatically - As Gene stated - the folks that manage Lightburn are your best bet. The Guy that runs the Lightburn Forum wrote the Lightburn software - he may be open to your function request if you were to ask
