I just cut this from a ,75 common pine board as a test. I am either suffering brain fog [confusion, memory issues, etc] or beginners Alzheimer's and I try to keep doing mental acuity tests to keep score. My sweetie collects miniature chairs and I have made few for her and was trying to find something that would be challenging to design and laser cut. I am impressed. Gotta go home now but will post a how-to if anyone is interested. No sanding- just a small wire brush prep. Gene

What power / lens are you using to cut 0.75" pine board?

I have a 130w tube from LightObject in Calif [they test each tube and it rated at 150w] and a 2 inch lens. Speed is 4mm/sec and I overdrive the tube for special projects [ rating is 28 mA]. I sold my company and the new owner lets me have a corner of one building and is happy to buy new tubes when necessary. It is a profitable business that I built from zero. I have had the Laser since 2015.

Looks like it's me and you Gareth- I am putting together a mockup of the chair- the seat is .375 Alder as well as the rear leg taped on- it will peg into the upper part of the back. The Alder ccomes from a hardwood company in a neighboring state- very nice and consistent wood, but semi-expensive of course. the chair will be 5.5-6 inches tall and is my most elaborate one yet. There are a few new joiners each week, but not many contributors.

Once I get a chance, I'll do some mail shots to registered members. But I suspect a lot have moved over to the LightBurn Forum.

Next thing for me to do is to complete the change over to LaserUser and open up the other sections.

I believe the forum is working better, faster and has some new features, it's just marketing it again.

Russ mentioned that overdriving a tube may actually reduce the power output of a tube. He also had his best cutting results using a 2.5" GaAs lens.

Yes, in fact it is the only rotary device I use since you helped me build it a couple years ago. Works great
I am looking at buying an Atomstack 24w diode laser for very fine detail (mainly photos) and may purchase the rotary with it for cups with handles. Still doing research.
Retired a few months ago so trying to get back to lasering more along with long list around home and shop. Hopefully will have more time for stuff like this soon.
