Hi everyone,
I’m looking into dental lights and wanted to share a short checklist for anyone upgrading a clinic light (or buying a new one).

What matters most:

Brightness & uniformity: Look for stable illumination without hot spots, so shadows are minimized during exams and procedures.
Color temperature (K): A neutral white light helps with accurate shade matching and tissue visibility. Adjustable color temperature is a plus.
CRI (Color Rendering Index): Higher CRI generally means colors look more natural—useful for restorative work.
Shadow control: Multi-LED designs often reduce shadows when hands/instruments block the beam.
Heat & patient comfort: LEDs usually run cooler than older halogen lights.
Ease of cleaning: Smooth surfaces, sealed joints, and simple handles make disinfection easier.
Positioning & balance: A light that stays where you place it saves time and reduces frustration.
If you’ve switched lights recently, what brand/model did you choose, and did you notice a real difference in shadow reduction or shade matching?
