My name is Ray Webster, I'm from Kamloops B.C. I bought a TS 6040 Chinese laser this past January(received it in late Feb) I have done some engraving with it, and played with it a bit, but have much to learn. I have watched (most) of Russ' videos on youtube. Tonight I will be trying to cut 6mm ply with no charring. This is something that has as of yet eluded me. It may be that my lens is very dirty, and I will clean it first.

I look forward to reading and sharing ideas about lasers on here.

Welcome Ray- cutting plywood can be a challenge as there are many different kinds and qualities of ply. I actually use a lot of plywood and have settled on mdf core ply as being best and easiest to deal with. I buy mostly Oak and Walnut as those are my favorites for light and dark but there are many species available. Ocooch hardwoods is a great dealer in Wisconsin but may not work for you in Canada. Gene

Thanks Gene,

I have not heard of MDF core plywood, and will look into it.
