Seems most people are buying the chinese led bases, they can run off 3 x AAA or USB. If you don't purchase the remote control they have a button that allows you to change the colour of the strip.
Anyone know how this is achieved, or do they have some form of circuit board for this purpose.
I've ordered a few but they will be a while en route from china, just interested if anyone knows how it's done, as i'd like to incorporate it into one of my bases for A4 sized display

These below are what I got a few months ago. There is the pressbutton version and a version without the tactile switches but it has an IR diode and cheap remote control as an option.
The two boards came from the same supplier EVILBAY LINK and are subtly different as well as the IR diode so I suspect different manufacturers. Both work great, quick video at this link
Much easier to find 5V these days in a USB world than a 12V wall wart.
