Hello, All:
It's been a while since I've browsed this forum. A few of you may remember that I did a reset of my system and had trouble with getting the head to "home out" correctly after that reset. I believe that was around February this year. I finally gave up on trying to resolve that issue and that machine has sat idle ever since. I ended up buying a 30W fiber laser which I think is really awesome, but like any Chinese made machine, it comes with a steep learning curve. I've managed to get ahead of some of that curve and have produced some fairly decent results. Anyway, I've just placed another order for a 50W CO2 (500 x 300) which I know will really be a 40W. My primary question I need help with is this: Should I completely delete the files associated with my first CO2 (a 60W, 700 x 500) before I install my new machine to my laptop? Maybe save them to a USB? Will leaving the original installation affect my new machine? Also, would installing Lightburn be recommended instead? I'd certainly appreciate input/opinions, especially with regard to the Lightburn software. New machine will arrive next week and I want to hit the ground running, or at least a fast crawl. Thanks.

If you are not deeply invested [time wise] in RDworks, I would definitely go with Lightburn. I can attest that using RDw for years and then switching is hard. And backing up is always a good idea, I have many, many backups that I have never had to use... but when you need something they rock.

Yes, Lightburn is really a lot more user friendly (for me). After testing it, using my laser, which sat unused in the corner for quite a while, became fun again!
Edit: A little same on me, posting this on the RDWORKSlab forum
PS: What's the problem on the homing situation?

Sorry to hear you have been unable to get the 60 watt up and running again.

Lightburn is definitely the way to go. It has come a long way and a lot easier to use once you understand the commands.

So, I've made time to play around with 60W today. Bought LightBurn a few weeks ago and am liking it. Trying to read the 60W machine doesn't work for some reason. The software doesn't recognize that I've connected via USB cable to the machine. Any thoughts? Also, haven't been able to find where the screen for the User and Vendor settings are. Any help would be appreciated.

USB is troublesome- I recommend an local internet connection if possible. The vendor setting are under File and the User files are a tab on the main page. Gene

Did you install RDWorks or at least the USB driver that is an option as part of the RDWorks install process?
