Hello, I am new to the laser world and purchased an Orion motor tech 55w laser. I have done a few test runs with mixed results. I purchased a file to make a nativity scene from 3mm ply. upon running the file after moving the objects around to fit the material size I had available it was cutting nicely then all of a sudden it lost something and the laser would not finish a portion of a piece and move somewhere else. I then tried only cutting some of the objects within the file and it worked fine. Has anyone experienced this before and what did you do to correct the issue? I am not completely sure which RUIDA controller I have on the machine but it may be a 6442. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure what the issue may be from the description of the event.
Have you tried running the file in the RDWORKs simulation?
- How many layer are in the file - are they all cut or engrave
- The file you purchased - did you alter anything - did you group or ungroup anything
What was the file format you purchased - if you would like me to inspect your file Send me a PM

Peter, I did run the simulation and it looked fine in RDworks. All the layers were cut (not sure how many exactly as I do not have it with me). The file was not altered, I only moved the items around to fit on a 12x12 sheet of baltic birch plywood. Here is a link to the file I was cutting.

Once I removed a few if the files and only cut a few at at time it went flawlessly.

I downloaded the file - *.ai is the best format to use - it imports very nicely into RDWORKS
i will try cutting in the AM and see what I can determine

Peter, If I can I will snap a pic of the mistake it made while cutting the first time, it baffled me also.

Without additional info, I'm guessing that this is related to the memory capacity of the laser controller.Michael Dykstra wrote: Thu Nov 07, 2019 Peter, If I can I will snap a pic of the mistake it made while cutting the first time, it baffled me also.
How are you sending this job to the machine? Do you have a PC hooked up via USB and run from there? Do you upload from the PC to the laser and run from the control panel? Do you run it from a thumb drive?
Do you have any other jobs stored on the controller?

Jeffery, I only have a handful of files on the machine(maybe 7-to 9 total). I try to delete them as I have them on the computer. I usually download the file directly from the computer to the laser via USB cable. I start the process from the computer once I know the frame of the work piece. Dont or haven't run anything from a thumb drive yet.

Try deleting all the stuff in the lasers' memory, and then try running the job directly from the PC (don't upload it).Michael Dykstra wrote: Fri Nov 08, 2019 Jeffery, I only have a handful of files on the machine(maybe 7-to 9 total). Will do Jeffery. I am going try Peters suggestion and upload the file into RDwroks using the Ai file instead of the DXF file and see if that makes a difference.
