Hey everyone, Soma here.

I've been fascinated by laser cutters since the first time I laid eyes on what they could do. No matter how many times I use one, every time that spark starts cutting vector-perfect lines and curves, I'm like :o

Currently have access to a shared Kaitian CM1309 at a hackerspace in San Francisco, which is why I've been learning RDWorks. I have also worked a lot with an Epilog Zing 24, using VisiCut.

I like using laser cutters as a tool of artistic expression. I've made lanterns and mandalas, and am working on a workflow for multi-layer wall hangings, backlit with LEDs (another passion of mine).

Glad to be here.

Cheers,
Soma

Welcome Soma- we would love to see some of your art. I know what you mean about being mesmerized by laser cutting, I still like to watch after 4+ years. I googled the Kaitian 1390 [which I often do when I see new machines] and it is very similar to the one I have. Gene
