A while back when I was researching converting from Top Wisdom to Ruida I saw a page that listed the connectors that were wired correctly, and the two or three that needed to be re-wired. I'll be damned if I can find it now that I'm getting close to conversion time. Can anybody point me in the right direction or have a copy?

This is a common question and needs to be a FAQ topic. I switched from Leetro to Ruida 4 years ago and wish I had documented it then [before this forum was a gleam in [he whose name shall not be mentioned] eye. I know a number of members have done this and written it up, but we had a bad falling out with HWNSNBM and most of our information was cast to the winds.

Please let's post what we know about the conversion from some of the other controllers and I will assemble it into a FAQ topic.

I will start with this Ruida diagram in case you don't have it. The colored lines are mine- I try to keep track of the many alterations my machine has gone thru as my memory is failing.

I found wiring diagrams later yesterday, so I should be good when I get to it.

What I was looking for, or re-looking for, was a little 'diagram' that showed the connectors that didn't need rewiring between the Top Wisdom and the Ruida, and those that did. My memory says that everything but to or three would plug straight in. Two for sure, and the third if you did or did not have a particular feature. When I get a chance I'll put them side by side and make up the same thing. Will post it if I can make a decent enough picture.

Can't get the screen shots to post, but I did find my info.

Matt's Workshop on YouTube has an excellent video on the changes from Top Wisdom to RuiDa. He has two shots of a list of connectors. The ones that will transfer as is, and the ones that need to be rewired. In my case only the laser out and the air assist connectors needed to be rewired. The laser was simple, the Ruid has the WP in a different position so it was a matter of moving it and shifting the rest up one position. The air assist is totally different, going from 5 to 6 pin and in a different order.

This is the video BTW https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6dU8_U ... dex=7&t=0s

It is TopWisdom to Ruida 6445, not sure if the connections are the same as 6442 controllers. I did not view the video myself.

True, I did not check on the 6442 as I was going to the 6445. I would think that RuiDa would us the same connector pin outs in the same family of controllers, but a double check would be in order just to be safe. Cloudray's web site shows identical connections on both controllers. Only thing being would be that web page people NEVER just cut and paste LOL.

Dave, are there different models of TopWisdom controllers? I will turn this into a FAQ for those who follow [after I succumb to the C-virus].

Yes, there are three main variants, but the TL-410C is the most recent and most common. The older TL-403C is a different animal all together. Pin out is different, and it' supplied by 5V instead of 24V. I have diagrams of both in the manual that came with mine. It's a glue together book, but since I made the change it's not like I really need it any more. Will scan it when i get back and attach so everybody can have access to it.

For the 410C it was a really simple swap. For the laser connector, the WP is on the other side of the actual laser wiring, but they are in the same order. Pull the WP, shift everything down one, and put the WP in place.

What I would call the 'Aux' connector was not even a close swap. First off, it goes from a four pin to a six and services three different functions so that wasn't totally unexpected. The 410C does not have a STATUS, and only one relay control.

One change I did NOT make when installing the 6445G was the USB cabinet extension. The 410C had a simple USB A to USB D connector giving you what you would expect to have to connect a device. The 6445G had an male / female USB cabinet extension requiring a double male to connect to the PC. By leaving the A to D extension in place it makes it impossible to mix the USB and U Disk inputs and eliminates the need for a double male A cable. Somehow it was not an extension I expected to see from a controller with the reputation of a RuiDa. The only thing I can think of is that the 6445G had double USB A's on the control box, instead of an A and a D even though the 410C had the same.

One thing that did surprise me was the mounting panel in the China Red. The holes were punched in the proper place for the 6445G, just not threaded. Slipped a tap into a hand chuck and ran them in and I was all set.

You'll never guess what I came across. A Reddit channel for Chinese laser cutters !

I'm hoping I might be able to sell my old controller, but I'm not having much hope on the tube through them, it seems to be mainly populated by guys with equipment in the 5W to 20W range. WOW, I'm not sure how to even respond to something that small. A lot of them seem to be using a variation of Matt's testing box as shipped from the factory. A switch and a POT to control the laser beyond the X and Y movements.
