I bought a K40 two years ago and could make some experience with this machine.
Because of the limitations (basically the missing z-adjustment and the working space) I just bought a 50 Watt Chinese machine.
In the setup phase the laser failed after not more than 1h, problem after replacing it with a 60 Watt it seems that the back mirror was burned which could be easily interpreted as an cooling problem... so no real chance to get it replaced from the seller.
Fact was Laser was not powered more than 65% (With the new Tube I installed a Amperemeter and for cooling I used one of this "industrial chillers" with 8 liter of water at 17 C)
Maybe this intro shows that the work on the machine takes momentary more time than productive stuff with it.

Welcome Oliver- the mirrors do not heat up with normal use, more likely something melted onto it by the laser beam- often fumes from cutting/engraving. Could also be a bad mirror, of course. Gene
