Hi! My name is Louanne and I live in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada (suburb of Toronto). I’ve been watching Russ’ videos in preparation to purchase my first laser. I first got interested after seeing a Glow Forge ad. I quickly realized you are paying a lot of money for that kit and I think I would quickly outgrow it. I didn’t trust the chinese lasers so started looking at brands like Trotec, Epilog etc. The problem there is again you are paying a lot of money for a desktop laser. I’m a business owner (dog grooming) who is close to retirement. I wanted to start a little side business with a laser. Something to occupy my time when I retire and maybe bring in a few dollars.

I became a dog groomer 10 years ago. Previous to that I was in IT for 25 years.I held certifications for MCSE, CCNE and others. So computers, specifically networks and security are my background.

I’m watching Russ’ videos and am now open to Chinese lasers although I’m going more towards a custom kit from a reputable company rather than buying an eBay machine and upgrading it. I’m trying to learn everything I can. I actually came here following a link to get a PDF on How Lenses work. So I’m glad to have found this resource and am hoping I can learn lots!

Thank you!

Welcome Louanne- there are reputable dealers of Chinese CO2 lasers in the states that I could recommend but I have no knowledge of Canadian dealers or how hard it would be to buy in the US and get it over the border. Learn as much as you can and ask questions- we have very savvy and helpful members. Gene
