This was a loose inlay of laser cut parts. Loose in that I did not engineer in the value of the kerf during the cutting to account for the gap created by the cut. I did this on purpose to accent the outline for contrast.
I resawed a piece of maple and sapele to aprox 3/16” thick. From one piece of maple I cut out the entire outline of the helo. The second piece of maple I cut the white pieces and the sapele I cut the brown pieces.
I stained the maple helo pieces with a Fruitwood stain to give contrast to the larger maple sheet. And stained the sapele with a an English Chestnut.
I glued the sheet with the outline cutout to another piece of maple and let dry – then I glued in the individual pieces and let dry.
I mixed up a clear epoxy, Famowood Glaze Coat Clear Epoy kit, (from home depot) and poured it on.
