Hi Everyone;
I'm excited to be aboard!
I just got my first laser that is my "very own". It is a BEAST - though I intend to come up with a much nicer name! It is a 1610 (which stands for 1600 mm x 1000 mm or about 63" x 39" ). It is an "SDCY" does not exist anymore and was built in around 2017-2018 or so. I bought it from a guy who was a real piece of work!! It had only 100 hours on it!
I am working to get it up and running now and am strangely enjoying the process. I am a biochemist by education, but have owned a sign company for the past 20 years.
I built my first CNC back in 2004 when 8 months pregnant with my youngest child, and trying to finish up a government contract that involved several hundred Braille room signs. Could not afford to sub them out so I built the router/engraver and programmed the Braille. They still hang today in a Naval Base.
I have built a few CNC's and borrowed a few lasers in the past 15 years, however it does not come nearly as easy. I have had a traumatic brain injury, and if I go to use a CNC or laser and have not used it in more than a week, it is as if I have never seen one before - no memory at all!! I am hoping that now that I have one in my shop, it will come easier.
I almost have this thing going. Dealing with the slight roadblock that my "Pulse" button does not seem to work. The laser will fire continuously. The head will try to cut, but the mirrors are horribly out of alignment, and I cannot get it to Pulse to get the process going. I am about to take apart the membrane switch to look for the problem.
Looking for to meeting you all, and having a great time with like minded LaserLovers!!
Yvonne
