yes,,explained file type to save etc,,but I wasnt sure if had to format as fat32 or if format to exfat as win10 will only do for me..will work and be recognized by controller..sorry if a double post, but this post was meant as a format question more than file type/storage..sorry ..please move or delete post if needed..

There is no unique formatting for an external hard drive to save a RLD or RD file.
But if you save the RDL file you can edit later - you can not edit a RD file.

Buy a solid state 1 TB usb drive and plug it into you computer and you can save to it without any issue.
I do not know if you were to use a solid state usb hard drive instead of a usb thumb drive to transfer files to you laser from the computer if your laser would read it.

oh ok..thanks...i am going to try in when new laser gets here..suppose to be on a slow boat from china, literally, departs next Wednesday, so 3-5 weeks i figure..lol..i will see if format as exfat, then see if plug into udisc port, put a file on it then, put back on and see if controller reads it, if so, it will be my giant thumb drive..lol..easier to just get a cpl thumb drives but wanted to see if find use for an old desktops hard drive,if not i will use like you mention, as a actual external hard drive and store etc files anyway.and good to know the RDL-RD differences
