Hello Everybody,

I have recently retired and purchased a partly working 50W black and beige Chinese clone as a project during the current Covid lock down, with a background in electrical and mechanical engineering
I'm fortunately have a small workshop, with a small lathe and milling machine. 3d printer so able to turn out most things. ;)
So far the laser has been completely rewired, with new rudia 6442 controller fitted, auto/manual air assist, C series head and mirrors machined to fit its basically nearly ready to make smoke, just settings and alignment to go.
Also can anyone recommend the best way to wire in a emergency stop button eg to door open NC on controller or just kill the mains power to machine?
I'm following Russ videos for the past few months, I have learn a lot from him, thanks.

Welcome Ron- I am working on the wiring on two largish lasers right now- cleaning up the last 4 years of 'improvements' on my old 1300x900 and trying to make myself comfortable with the Chinese system on a new 1800x1300 machine. Tim posted this file of a laser he is building and I have found that to be helpful. It is a Fusion 360 file in 3 D which you can scan around and click on a wire to trace it to it's ends.

I have an electronics background but am nowhere near current with wiring in general- I think the correct way to wire a E-stop is to a relay which cuts off all power to the machine, but I see a number of other ways in which people do it. I am grappling with the E-stop versa On/Off switch right now on the new machine and the E-stop wiring on my old machine which I posted the early version of the schematic for is not yet accurate either. Hi thanks for the reply, i was aware of the relay way, i was wondering if it was better to use the controller like i said maybe the door input which would allow you to resume after reset?
