Our Boss LS1620 has been acting a bit strange - We’re not the original owner, and have been running it nearly 30 hours a week for the past six weeks - so we’re ready to perform some advanced maintenance. All belts were recently tightened and tested. We recently upgraded / replaced the tube, which is now running at 70W purchased directly from Boss. We thought it could be a power supply issue, but so far have ruled that out.
When we manually fast jog the y axis, it grinds / loses steps. Not an issue with the X axis. We’ve noticed intermittent loss of y axis steps when running files as as well, and have even seen it travel above the edge of the table and laser mark the rule along the top edge of the bed.
We’re ready to restore the factory settings using RDworks - if this is a option. Would like any direction re: examining settings that it may currrently be set with.
If there’s other posts that relate to this issue, please redirect me - thanks!

Factory settings or a saved back up? Either way make a back up of your current just in case.
You said you are not the original owner. You might ask Boss what the stepper driver dip switch settings should be. If somebody was tweaking the drivers for a different application, you may have 'gone out of bounds' in your work.

"When we manually fast jog the y axis, it grinds / loses steps."
Was this occurring before you adjusted the belts?
What speed (mm/sec) is your fast jog?
Where is the grinding noise coming from?
Do you run the machine at speeds greater than 500mm/sec?

Thanks! Suggestions were all great. Ended up contacting Boss Laser, who spent over an hour with our tech working from optics back to power supply. Right belt was over tightened - causing jumps. They are sending out a replacement power supply as well.
Really appreciate the help in this forum!
