Laser cutting, through hole and meet?

Hey, just curious, is it better to make a through hole, and then join it to your main work, or is the advantage negligible?

Are you talking about the 'laser through mode' in your layer parameters, or something else?

Yeah, I noticed that when I get through the material it's all good, but up to that point it gets super smudged on the sides with sap/soot or whatever. i was wondering if I made a through hole elswhere, and then met up with my work piece if that'd help at all

That sounds more like cut in or cut out. It's a feature of RDWorks. You tell it how far and what direction. It can be a bit to set up for each cut if it's a one off, but if it's something you are going to be doing a fair amount of it can be worth it.
