Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and with laser builds. I have reached the stage of configuring the controller and seem to be lost. Can someone point me in the right direction on how to configure my control to my build? I have not made any changes to the controller except turn it on.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Bob

All of the configuration [Vendor] files work for all of the Ruida controllers that I have tried. We have a number of Vendor file for different size machines- pick one that is most similar to your machines size and download that. To save it to the controller, you must remember to read the file on the controller first and then import the new file and then write it to the controller.

You may have the head take off for the wrong corner [determined by where you set up your limit switches] and if so, hit the ESC Button on the machine readout which will cancel movement. From there, change one setting at a time and try it... after a while you will have a working machine and will know a lot more about how it works

Thanks Gene,

I would figure i would work on one axis at a time, so i don't get confused. Working on Y-Axis. It is 600mm front to back in length. Home is set to back right. When i hit reset, it does move back and hit the limit switch and stop.

Couple of things i have noticed. First, the controller displays 10000mm for origin. Second, when i move the Y-axis to towards me, it only moves about 150mm and stops. I cannot get it to go to the other end.

I am using Nema 17 motors, with DM542 driver. Would the way i configure the driver have an impact? The driver manual says i can have the software set speed and amps.

Thanks,
Bob

You can open the Vendor files with Notepad++ and actually compare [with a free addon] your file with someone else's which can be a good way to troubleshoot issues.

Got it to work.
Calibrated both x and y for a 100mm square, and adjusted settings.
Installed the limit switches on X and Y.

Now when i reset, laser goes to home and panel shows 0, 0, for position.

Thanks
