Hello all,
I work as a mechanical engineer for a 3D printing company. We have bins full of power supplies, linear rails, motors... everything one would need to build a laser. I purchased a 100W tube and HV supply, then designed my own frame.
It's 80/20 construction, 3D printed brackets, and FRP skins. While it's still very much a work in progress, I'm excited to begin learning how to use it. I have a background in tool and die making, so CNC isn't anything new, but cheap Chinese controllers certainly are. I found the site looking for a better manual and figured I'd stick around.
I'll mostly use this machine for mechanical prototypes, but I'm sure a few engraving/aesthetic jobs will come up as well.
Pics and a show-off coming soon!

Welcome Patrick- you are entering a fascinating field IMHO. You sound very capable and there are a lot of resources here I believe for a DIY laser project. I am in Blaine, BTW, let me know if I can help in any way. Gene

Welcome Patrick - when you are up and running be sure to back up your vendor settings - they are easily lost and difficult to recover.
