Z axis faulty

Hello,

I have a big problem with my 80w machine.

I just realized that my Z axis is faulty.

(I don't have autofocus on my machine)

I don't know where the problem comes from.
(motor, connectors, ...)

I will try to do some testing today.


Symptom:
when I press the buttons to raise or lower the bed, it works, but very very slowly.

Possible cause:

• faulty motor.
  machine having suffered a shock, deformed axis.
  incorrectly connected or defective connectors.

...



If you have any ideas to identify the cause of the problem, it will help me a lot.

Could be as simple as a loose drive gear on the motor. When I move my drive motor, I discovered the gear on the motor and two of the jack screws were not tight. Not slipping yet in my case, but definitely loose.

Do you have up and down buttons separate from the laser controller panel? If so the motor is likely a DC motor and should be fairly easy to troubleshoot.
If the laser controller runs the Z axis, there are ways to speed up the stepper motor speed.

ok I'll take a look the motor is running, the belt too, the endless screws too.

For me either the motor is not spinning fast enough or the bed or endless screws are out of alignment.

I checked, all the screws are tight, gear included.

Courois may be too tight.

Otherwise I see only two other problems,
either the worm screws are not straight or incorrectly placed, and are subjected to too much force, or a wiring problem.

I'm not good at aligning the bed :/

And if I have to remove all the wires from the sheaths to check them and I can't find anything, it may be better to install a new motor on the controller, I have to see if it's possible on the RDC6442S.

So I really don't know what else to do :/

It's good I know ^^ I'm going to start with the simple checks, I'm going to loosen it
tensioner, and check if the endless screw have no rotation problem ^^ then the bed and if it still does not work I change the motor

If you have any other verification idea ^^

There is an excellent chance that one or more of your jacks screws is not straight with the others. When checking your Z axis, put a little zip tie at the top of one of your jack screws so you know you stop at the same point of rotation at each end of travel. That way it will be 'out' by the same amount.

I did not understand the process well, I fixed a zip tie at the top of one of my jack screws, and I must check if I have the same discrepancy, is that it ? should I disassemble the bed? in the event that one or more of my jack screws are not properly aligned, do you know a simple method to realign them ?


I noticed a knock on the side of the machine, the drawers on the front of the machine are a little out of place, I wonder if during the transport of one of my moves the machine has not undergone a shift that plays on the jack screws.

From what I understand, the jack screws being a bit out of true is fairly common, hence the zip tie to stop in the same spot for alignment checks. The bed being out of level with the gantry is also fairly common. I had one corner out by 1.6mm, and another by just over two. You can usually loosen the keeper nut on the bottom of the 'receiver' on the bed that sits on the jack screw and turn it to adjust it up and down on each screw. Mine were so tight I had to release the belt and the two set screws on each gear at the bottom of the jack screws and adjust it there. A little bottle of liquid white out came in real handy for getting the belt back in the same spot, and knowing how much I had adjusted the two gears.
