Try reducing speed (both the speed you use for your actual job, and the homing speed) and see if that helps. If not, reduce the acceleration and re-test.
It seemed losting count fo the steps.

but, I already set a slow speed, home speed only 20mm/s.

update:

1. when the machine initializes. I moved the the laser head by →←↑↓ button, the head stoped right position.(figure 1)
2. the the machine finished the first job.
3. I moved the laser head by →←↑↓ button again, the head cann't stop!! (figure 2)
4. then I check the limit switch status on panel, the limit switch already on, but still can move. (figure 3)

Pete Cyr wrote: Fri Jul 24, 2020 Mine does not.

My machine initializes on power on - moves to the limit switches and then moves to "current position" - current position = "origin"
After each cut my laser head goes to origin/current position

Are you setting "Origin" on the laser key pad?

I set my laser to the center of of my work for alignment

Yes, I set it. but the problem happened when the head back to home.

I recently had this happen on my y axis. I was doing some testing while trying to align my mirrors, which is another story entirely, and when the head returned to the back of the machine on its way to the upper left home position it crashed into the back of the machine, past the limit switch, making the most god awful noise. I hit the big red boo boo button and started inspecting. Long story short, the wire cover that looks like a large bicycle chain had popped a link, slid off the shelf and crashed into the limit switch knocking it out of position. Unscrewing it repositioning the switch solved the issue.

Sorry, I have a tendency for long winded stories to explain things.
