I have the Ruida Wireless Remote Control and use it constantly. It is about $120 and worth it to me. The Cloudray pict is the newest model, and probably improved. My only issue is it requires batteries at full charge, and I use rechargeables so I need to switch once a week. Would probably help it I ever turned it off, but that behavior is not lookin' good.
There is a cell phone app but that is outside of my knowledge, I assume you need a WiFi module on your Ruida Controller? and I am not sure if it is only for Android or iphones too. Someone please help me here.

Yes, there are free iOS and Android versions of the app. The apps mimic the buttons on the remote control like the one Gene owns (his picture on the right side). I know the iOS version is available from the Apple App Store. The Android version is available from the Ruida website. It wasn't available via the Android app store back when I installed it but it might be now.
VERY IMPORTANT - You must have firmware version .48 or greater installed on your controller for the app to work. I have posted .50 for the 6442G in another thread on this forum and I can confirm it works.
The app must be able to communicate with your laser via your WiFi network. The least complicated way is if you can run an Ethernet cable directly from your router to your laser and plug it in to the port on your machine or directly into the controller. You can also connect through wifi using a device like this.
https://www.amazon.com/Vonets-VAP11G-30 ... B014SK2H6W
Here is that device hooked up to my machine: I liked how this device had a USB cable for power that could be plugged into my laser's second powered USB port to power the Vonets device, thus eliminating an additional power cord. There are other similar WiFi devices for sale with different features (such as an external wall-wart power supply) if you want to research. Additionally, Russ has a video showing how he and an IT guy configured an old internet router to do the same thing.
FYI - You must know the IP address of your laser so you can type that into the app when you first run the app.
You must go into the RDWorks software User tab and enable the remote control. Make sure to also enable the speed shift feature and set the alternate speed level while you are in there.

Does anyone know the purpose of the "Trace On/Off" button or the "Laser Gate" buttons? The first one is on both the handheld remote and the app. I believe the latter is only on the app.

Hi Doug,
I am not sure what you mean by Firmware version? How and where do you check for firmware number?
Thanks

Watch the screen of your controller keypad when you boot up the laser.
To upgrade it, in RDWORKS go Config > System settings > system info. The password is RD8888

It is asking you for the firmware update file which you must find on the internet and download. Go to the Ruida website or do searching here on the forums to get the files.

Doug,
I'm an Android user, but she has an iPhone. I tried looking for the iPhone app but didn't get any results. Would you by chance know the correct link?
