I watched Brad from Autodesk's latest tip and tricks video last night and it was better than candy [not quite as good as beer] I have been messing with the program for 18mo and it is the bright spot in many of my days, almost surpassing lasers on some days. I highly recommend the program if you have any interest in designing in 3D or if you 3D print or just like these sorts of programs. It is free for hobbyists and well worth the money.

This is the vid I speak of and he has a pdf below the vid to follow when you try his tips on the actually program [ which I have to do to be able to remember them]. It is a live stream which I am not fond of but he has a comrade handling the questions so it is not so much of a distraction.

Yesterdays and overnights Fusion 360 and 3D Printing job.

I actually made the round clip on adapter a month or so ago for the calibrated flowmeter for using in a round duct. The round to square adapter took well under an hour to get to the printer and the result works well. The flow is from a small home/sample coffee roaster that takes proprietary (expensive ) filters so time to come up with a matching filter replacement and see if there is a $ to be made. The issue is over 30-50 roasts the filters clog so flow varies which plays up with the roasting.

With the arrival of some Carbon impregnated filter cloth for the roaster job above my brain went sideways as it does all to often.

When doing a lot of electronic soldering small fume extractors to remove resin fumes are fairly normal. I have been making do with a small fan across my microscope and general soldering stand but it is limited in usefulness.

Sideways thoughts were I now have a stash of cloth and I have a 120mm 12V heavy duty fan left over from a job so time to break out Fusion. Still a WIP and tabs need to be added and the main tube cut into slabs for Laser cutting most likely from 3mm ply to help deaden the fan noise over acrylic.

For fusion heads the Fan is a separate model I made first which is then brought into the extractor and a 'insert derive' so any changes I make to the fan automatically get made to the other design.

EDIT Added a screenshot of the final design with mounts and tabs added. Cutting tomorrow.

MK II

Tried Laser cutting the Carbon impregnated filter cloth today and it worked a treat. All doors open and fan on full but little smoke came from it 20% power and 20mm/sec.

Shortened, reduced parts count, stronger and simpler. Now is there a market for it against the Chinese imports.......
