Hello,

Is it possible to add a post like and dislike button?

Sometimes I have nothing to say but I like or dislike idea (post)

Just a thought, I hope I don't get a dislike for this :D :D :D

There is good and bad implementations of this of forum software I have seen and used.

The worst is a post rating system in a forum filled with sycophants, heavy 'sponsor only links' and more or less only allowed discussions on the products of sponsors while heaping poo on non sponsored products. It became an ego stroking system (crude circular metaphor not included).

The better (not best) is one that allows likes only. I have seen this become more a 'cool', 'acknowledgement' or 'thanks for the reply' with or without the need for an actual reply from the liker. It does cut down on posts and generally is more of an encouragement for the recipient to post again.

THERE IS NO BEST!

Adding a Dislike is a bad idea as what was disliked. Part or a portion or was the complete post disliked. Generally you might dislike a part of a post (maybe) but if you disagree with it then you should make a post asking for clarification or a reason for that opinion you 'dislike'. Part of a Forums purpose is discussion not dissent.

Me personal preference would be not to have a system in place but if we do adopt one then be aware of some of the downsides.

If you “like” a post...good. That’s the goal. But I see no need to catalogue “likes” and “dislikes”. The information on this forum is provided and compiled to help folks looking for answers...if anything here helps only one person great ....if it helps more even better.
