Hi, I have just moved over from a k40 that I have been using for a few years to a ruida controlled Chinese green & black. I mainly use the laser to engrave stamps and am currently having a mental breakdown trying to make it work similar to the k40. When I engrave I only use vectors exported from corel, if I export them I don't get the option to negative engrave as you do with a bmp. Is there a way to do this or am I stuck having to reduce quality to a bmp from a clean vector. I have attached a corel file if that helps, the red is to be negative engraved and the black to be cut. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Andy

Without looking at your file, I'll suggest that you draw a box around your graphic. If RDWorks sees an object, it engraves it. If it sees an object inside an object it'll engrave the outer object and leave the inner object. For example, if you draw a circle, it will engrave the circle. If you draw a square around the circle, it'll engrave the square but leave the circle. If you draw a triangle around that, you'll get a triangle with the square unengraved, with circle engraved inside it. And so on.
Try the simulator to see how this works.

just as jeffrey said. this is how vector works : the "filled" part is the inside of the outer line, minus the closed paths that are inside.
to engrave text/circle/whatever, just enclose them completely with another shape.
look at the attached file : the black vector will engrave as the gray (gray = zone that is burned with "scan" setting)

Thanks to both of you for that, I have been fighting with it for a few days and have now found the right amount of contours to get the job to work smoothly.
