Layer Color Bar

Okay, I've searched, but it's not in here or I'm just not searching correctly. I could have sworn...

The layer color bar on the bottom left corner of RDWorks. Is there a way to copy that so I can put it on a sheet for a default cutting parameter list?

Ideally I'd like to turn it vertical, and then list beside it the power and speed and material I have that color set for. I have an Excel list with parameters, but a quick color matched list posted above the laser cutter is what I'm aiming for.

Of course I only have a B&W printer, so I would be doing everything on the screen and then taking it to be printed. I'm hoping someone has already done this and I'm just not searching properly.

long time ago, i extracted the first colors to set up a color palette in gimp/inkscape. those are the RGB values :

please note that while you want to setup a power/speed for each color, in fact the exact power/speed for the color will be saved IN EACH FILE! this is not a global property of RDworks.

so, suppose you want to setup your red at POW60% / SPEED 50 mm/s, this will be saved in the file, but opening ANOTHER file will lose this setting. another file could have red = pow 10% speed 200mm/s

the only way to go would be to prepare one file with an example for each color, save it, and that every time you create a new file you start by opening the example, then saving to another name.

Hmmm, In my copy of .41, I have a check box beside the min max percentages marked default. I was under the impression I could set a default for each color.

I originally tried to standardise with the colours, but eventually moved to using the parameter library in RDworks, select the relevant colour and assign the necessary parameter.

I save the parameters based on material, thickness and whether i'm cutting or scanning. Might be feasible to do similar but have power and speed settings as the parameter name

nope, "default" checkbox is to use the "default" values from the machine, instead of the values of the layer, if i remember correctly.

Ah, you have to lover all the voluminous documentation that comes with all the Chinese controllers. To me, if I clicked on it in the software it would be the default there, not in the machine it's sending to. I'll have to play with it to verify just for my own piece of mind. Would have drove me nuts with it not doing what I was expecting it to. Who knows, I might even have some hair left when I'm done with all my mods... LOL

That brings another thought, where would you set a default cutting parameter by layer in the controller? I've never come across that, but I've only had that controller in for about a month.

I haven't had a chance to play with the parameters library. I seem to remember a post about importing a basic library, but don't remember where it was, or what the file name was in the program. My foggy memory says it was not a file name I would have associated with cutting parameters, but that is back in the fog, so...

Still drives me batty( er ) that I can only have one file open at a time, hell, the only way I can get two copies of RDWorks open at the same time is to open one via the Corel macro export, and a second clicking on it in my program list.

The library is the best feature of RDw- I switched from Leetro to Ruida controller to gain that [Lightburns is also good but that was 3 years before LB was released]. You can load multiple copies of RDw and number them . Lightburn will also load multiple copies.

How do you load multiple copies of RDWorks? I click again on the icon, and it does not open a new copy. It clears what I have and opens a fresh copy. Same with the export from Corel. It clears the current export and opens what ever I'm kicking out. Note: I'm using .41 on a WIN7 32 bit machine.

you're SO wrong. use the community-translated version from here! the original chinglish version is utterly crap. it comes from the same guys that name a checkbox "default" to tell that it will use the "machine-default-settings" instead of your own settings.

and so much more badly translated items that you have just no chance to understand if you just read the original manual.

the translated manual is mainly ok, because good people did TRY all settings to discover what they did, and then retro-documented, instead of trying to correct badly translated items which mean nothing.
