Hi to you all,
My name is David Stevenson and I'm new to this laser stuff, although I am a mechanical engineer by profession. I have nearly completed a home built laser using bits from Cloudray Laser. It has a Ruida 6445G controller, 130W Yongli glass tube laser, closed loop hybrid steppers, motorised Z axis, auto focus, air assist and is 900 x 600mm working area.
The laser is primarily to be used for my step-son who is a luthier, but I will hopefully get some opportunity to make parts for my hobby which is building/flying RC gliders as well.
I've the mechanicals and electrical all mocked-up and moving, now just playing with set-up of the controller and loading the RDWorks software. I'm struggling with getting it to communicate to the PC, and my searching brought me here, so hopefully I'll find some help !!
David

Welcome David, I know the 6442 controller has problems with the USB connections, not sure about the 6445 and have not heard much about it yet. We have a homebuilt forum that you are encouraged to add to as there is a growing movement in that direction. If you have questions we have very helpful members. Gene

Hi David,
Greetings from Bangor ...
A belated welcome to the forum, interesting to hear your doing your own build. I took the potentially easier route of having to fix the poor quality manufacturing from China instead of new build, primarily as I don't have the "machinery" and some of the electrical knowledge to assist with the build. I spent the time building the large workshop to house it instead.
From memory I think my controller is a 6445 ... mine is connected via network cable and hub, If I can help in any way just ask ....
