Did I blow my control board

Hello,

I have installed the Super Ultimate Air Assist on my laser unit, and it was working great. I however was fiddling with something, and now the relay will not turn off when either the manual override is turned off to automatic mode, or when the project is done lazing.

I am finding that the relay coal is still receiving 12 volts after I turn off the manual override or the end of the lazing project has completed.

I checked the board, and I find that there is a 12 volt potential between the Status and Wind pins. Is that normal? I don't think so. If anything, I would think it should be 0 volts. Also, there is a 12v potential between Status to ground, and 24v potential between Wind to ground.

So, did I break something? I have checked the wiring, and everything seems to be properly connected, but is there a short somewhere?

probably!

the output drives from the control board are very low current rated (<<1Amp i think)
I destroyed the driver on mine (a transistor/FET had blown) I replaced this with a more capable device (many amps) and all was OK.

It will require some diagnoses and soldering to fix and your pcb may not be same as mine. but if fixable then money saved!

meant to say you also need to protect against back emf from the coil place a 1 amp 50v+ across the coil cathode (marked with a bar on the diode) to the positive supply and anode to output driver

Hello everyone!

I think I have done something wrong - and I'm looking for a confirmation and maybe some hint about possible recovery?

I just installed Ultimate Air assist bought from Cloudray and I also upgraded it with delay timer and relay for exhaust fan - all using Russ's schematic and parts the he used.
Only thing that I did not like him was the manual switch - I wanted it to be neat and use already existing switch that came with the machine, it's the same "circuit looking" but good quality and I avoided drilling on my beloved machine.
And that button has an LED lighting when pressed on. I connected that wrongly in first try so there is a good chance that 24V went up to board.

So now I have no response from WIND or STATUS pin when starting program - they are not switching to ground at all. I still got 24V from pin 6.
In manual mode everything works as it should.

Has anyone had similar troubles - is it fixable by a skilled repairman?
I haven't checked before install if it works properly:(

Could it be a firmware glitch?
I'm on RDC6442S with 8.01.59 firmware - I have .62 downloaded from some Russian file depository but I fear bricking the controller...
