Hi . I just replaced the laser power supply. But the laser fires on 0% power and quite strong. The plugs matched up perfectly? It scans fine when doing pictures good, the power varies, no problem. Just some times I use the outline of the frame of a picture, with little power so it does not fire but frames the area required, if I simply have no power the outline of the frame of my pictures will not be included in the the area the laser head goes when I click frame on the controller. I did a job last night and instead of it just showing the area, it lasered the outline. I had the power on 2%, should not have fired. This morning I did a cut on 0% and it lasered with a fair bit of power. Any suggestions. I do a lot of pic. I did 400 in 2 months, and I have used my method quite a bit. I will post some pics up in the other section ( be proud of your work). I am now also selling the wooden frames, but that is beside the point and I am not here to advertise this.
Thanks'
Scott

Recommend running the test file in the link above - it should help define what each power level will do and perhaps provide some insight to the issue

Hi Pete. Problem is mine is firing at 0%. with quite a bit of power, I have 100w. I cut through 3mm mdf at 25mm sec. When everything is perfect I can do it at 35, This part of the power is fine, it is the same as my older one, it just firing on 0% I cant understand. I did pictures on it yesterday, no problem. It was only last night I realised that it is firing on 0%.

Well then....it would seem your controller is acting up. Beyond that I am clueless- sorry not much help.

Hi Pete. Thanks for trying. I will keep looking . I will be buying another power supply as a spare, so I will connect it when I get it and see if it does the same. What I find strange is it will fire very lightly in grayscale, but when set to 0% on cut it will fire at , like 50% power. So it goes right down to a minimum power required to do a faint line in grayscale scanning, but not when cutting.

Hi Pete. Thought I would just share a bit more about this problem. My laser seems to be operating at full power , no matter what setting. I did test with scanning and cutting. Makes no difference. It will cut through 3 mm mdf at 35mmsec at 2% power. I then into vendor settings at set the power at 10%max and had exactly the same result. I have attached pics of where the wires go into the power supply. This problem has on happened since I replaces it, so maybe thats the issue. I have another spare one on its way. I also attach a pic of the power meter on the power supply and what it is showing when it is cutting. Just throwing it out there , hoping this will makes sense to someone. When I do my pictures, the power will vary according to the shade of the picture, but not if I am scanning a square??
Thanks , to anyone that can help me.

This sounds like a controller problem not a power supply but I do not know how to effectively trouble shoot to prove that.

hi guys
i have just got a 2nd hand blue white and i do a job on 120g black card/paper that score lines on (been doing this with my k40 for about 4 years no issues) ive imported the files and was getting a problem that the ends of the score lines are cutting. ive tried changing settings but what ever i do the power never seems to get any lower. when changing machine settings i write them to the machine but if i go back and read them again they go back to low 1 high 99 i will run the test file that is linked above but im 99% sure that the changing of power with either rdworks or lightburn makes no difference in either machine or job settings

anyone any ideas?

thanks Mark

I'm confused by your comment that when you "go back and read them again they go back to low 1 high 99". I'm not aware of a place in RDWorks where you can read back the power you set for a job. And you shouldn't EVER have max power set to 99% - you'll simply overdrive your tube and cause it to fail prematurely.

Maybe you could post a screenshot of your job settings and we could help you out.

Regards,

-Jeff

Mark- please start a different thread for your problem and I will delete this one- it gets very confusing I am afraid to have different people and different problems in one thread- I can move Jeff's answer to the new thread. And the info Jeff is requesting will be necessary of course. Gene
