I'm just doing preliminary work for future inevitability. The power supply in my new 80W import machine is a ZYE-branded version of this one:
https://www.cloudraylaser.com/products/ ... 3062350899

Mine is nearly identical and set up for 110V input. Model number is the same at least. And on my 80W tube I send only 60% to feed the tube 23mA.

Reason I'm asking is that when I do replace the tube, I was hoping to upgrade to an SPT 100W. I tentatively planned on this when I ordered the machine since I noticed this power supply was what was installed in it. Just want to ask because I want to make sure these things aren't over-spec'd so that I don't wish or expect something that ends up falling short. Since I'm going to need to buy a chiller too, it would be nice not to have to also invest in a power supply as well.

Thanks for any input.

Also. I noticed a few people commenting on Reci tube quality declining lately, so I was thinking about SPC, but I notice that LightObject also sells GSI and I wonder if anybody has anything to say about comparing the two? Kind of already diving off a tangent, but it's related.
Thanks

That PS should be OK for a 100w tube and will output 30mA which would run my 130W EFR tube. I actually emailed Marco Wong to ask if the GSI might be a better choice for our more industrial use here in the shop. I did not get an answer but found a video that he did mentioning all the the tuning he did to get a good output on the GSI tube- apparently the bolts/screws around the output mirror on the GSI are adjustments, I kinda gave up on that thought and ordered a 130w agreed power SPT tube.

Thanks Gene. Good to know, both about my power supply and your view on the GSI tubes.

Thanks Gene.
That's good to know about the power supply. I just ordered one to power my W2 RECI tube.
