I have a request to machine a profile and some slots in 4mm thick nylon 6.
Anyone have any experience in either laser or cnc with this material.

I have no experience. I looked it up on Wikipedia, and also looked up several different versions of the MSDS (Manufacturer's Safety Data Sheet). It does not contain chlorine, so I would not expect it to cause any damage to your laser. Most of the MSDS's don't show any unusual hazard from combustion (lasering), but one says that incomplete oxidation can produce hydrogen cyanide (very poisonous). I don't understand this, because according to the Wikipedia article, Nylon 6 doesn't have any cyanide (Cn) in it.

it would be handier if laserable, but if not then cnc. Unsure of the cutting characteristics on either machine. Hopefully someone will chime in with their experience. Thanks for your help pJeff
