I have accidentally crashed my Z Axis and am need of a little assistance. The auto focus wasn't working correctly and didn't stop the bed so it pushed the head up inside the adjustable tube and I don't know how to set the distance. This machine didn't come with any good paper work. :(

100W RECI 600 x 400 with a Ruida 6445G (EC) controller.

There are a number of sophisticated ways to determine the correct focal length but this is easy and will get you close. Set up a piece of thin wood or acrylic to make a ramp- going up maybe 10mm on one end. Make a line in your software that will travel the length of the ramp and set a low speed and medium-low power and run the line. It will make a cut line or a line not thru the material. Notice where the line/cut is narrowest and that will be very close to your focus [ between the ramp at the narrowest point and the tip of the nozzle. Russ of course has a lot of videos explaining this- this is the first of a series of six basic user vids- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvrMeUUzaBo
