hello everyone i am new to using the RD works program. Is there a way to assign default setting to cutting acrylic vin RD works V8 for example
red = cut
Blue = engrave
Black = scan
a friend has done this with his red works v8 and we need to do this with out setup. unfortunately he doesnt remember how he did it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We are setting up a new 100w laser cutter with RD works thanks for your help Best Romano

Hi Romano,
I've been using RDWorks v8.00.32 for about 3 years in a public library.
My hypothesis is:
If the previous user, P, of RDWorks v8.00.32 set the control vector to (W, X, Y, Z) for layer L,
and if W is the parameter Speed (mm/sec),
and if X is the parameter "Processing Mode" (values of xxx),
and if Y is the Min Power,
and if Z is the Max Power,
and if you then made an object O,
and if you assigned O to the layer L,
then you would inherit the control vector (W, X, Y, L).
Note the "last user of layer L" may have been you.
The above hypothesis is true even if RDWorks has been terminated between the time P manipulated L and when you started RDWorks.
The above hypothesis is true even if you made a design, D, on another computer, wrote D to, say, a USB_Stick, and then read D into the computer attached to the laser.
To say this in another way, if you are the only user of the laser control computer, and if you set layer L to have a particular control vector, C, the C will always be associated with L.
My "evidence" for saying this is only my experience -- what I've seen for me.
I further conjecture there is no way to set any other "default". The only thing possible is "the previous value".
If anyone knows anything else, please pass the word.
Regards,
Mars

You can create presets in the parameter library for cutting or engraving and specify pwr, speed, and the interval blow or not.
There after you can assign a parameter to any layer you choose.
You can also create a template and save it as a named file for reuse with specific setting for each layer.
However, there is no way to default a specific parameters to a layer that would be useful
