HI all!
Thanks for bringing me aboard.
I'm new to lasers. I found a new, unused laser for about half the price, 5hrs away, from a fellow veteran. Couldn't pass it up. 50W Omtech. Bonus money from my job paid for the whole thing. It was just the right time. Very happy with it!
I found Russ online and been paying close attention.
Today, (last night) I got a new meniscus lens and mirrors, dropped and cracked my planar onto the x frame. Just a chip off the edge but glad i had ordered the new one.
Glad I got the mirrors because one would not clean up for bad backing. They sent a 2.5" depth lens while mine is 2".
Because of having researched with Russ, I made lengthening adjustments on the tube, did ramp test and made some cuts anyway. In fact, I cut my first spiral bowl out of 6mm plywood. No kerf checks yet but I thought it was simple enough and it was.
New lens tomorrow maybe. I've only had it almost a month so it's still about finding materials and making notes while watching the masters.
I sew as a tailor, machine embroider and now learning the laser. I love it!
All's well in NJ!

Welcome Carlos- you seem to have the correct attitude for this hobby- try something and try to remember what the result was. We recommend saving your Vendor files [per the FAQ section] as they can be lost easily. Happy lasering and ask any questions you may have. Gene
