60w chinese yellow and black 700mmX500mm ruida RDC6442G freezes or stops in middle of job. Just changed motor drivers because I thought that was the problem. After I shut it down, it won't rehome and gives me a single beep from the controller? After the head stops, the laser will keep firing. Help! As it stands, I have a $2000, 300 lb. Paper weight in my shop.

I've had the machine for about 3 years and I have replaced the 50w tube with a 60w and a new power supply. I just changed the motor drivers because I thought that that was causing the problem. I also replaced the panel touch pad because the L/R arrow keys weren't working. The machine is not used much, maybe 30-40 hours on it tops.

Does it fail on all jobs, or just one job in particular?Duke Bennett wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2020 I've had the machine for about 3 years and I have replaced the 50w tube with a 60w and a new power supply. Do you send your jobs using a USB drive, or directly from the PC (via USB cable or network cable)?
For a given job, does it always fail in the same spot?
A stopped laser head w/ the laser still firing is a horrible fire hazard. If possible, run your experiments w/o the laser beam turned on.

No, it doesn't seem to do it on all jobs. It seems to do it on larger jobs cut or engrave. It doesn't stop in the same place every time. I use cable from laptop directly.

Hmm. It could be memory corruption in the controller. Can you try deleting ALL stored jobs from the controller (assuming that you have some)? For the sake of clarity - by "controller" I mean on the RuiDa itself, NOT from your laptop. The RuiDa has the ability to save jobs so that (in a factory environment, for example) one can run jobs without a connected PC. See Section 3.4 in The Manual for instructions.Duke Bennett wrote: Tue Jan 21, 2020 No, it doesn't seem to do it on all jobs. It seems to do it on larger jobs cut or engrave. If by cable you mean USB- that can be troublesome, ethernet is better.

I'm worried that it might be the controller? I'll try an ethernet cable after work. I'll try to figure out how to delete the controller's memory as well. Thanks for all of the input!

Do you have a link for the Manual? The one I found online doesn't have a section 3.4Jeffrey Aley wrote: Wed Jan 22, 2020Hmm. It could be memory corruption in the controller.
