Hi,
Klas joining in from Sweden.
Age: still young and curious, but the family claims I am about to get 50 in a year...
Been planning a diy build for some time now, found Russ videos and found them very informative and intresting.
I am a diy focused person. Built speakers and amplifiers, and got into cnc and related stuff by building a minikossel 3dprinter in 2012 when home with a broken leg. Been building and repairing lots of electronics, speakers and so on.
The biggest issue stopping the laserbuild right now is the limited space in the garage. Witch is occupied by various projects... a rather big metall lathe, a flimsy cheep milling machine, robot mover builds, RC planes and drones and much more...
My profession is in electronics, related hardware, some programming and system engineering. Just received probably one of the first tormach 1100mx into Sweden.
Also into retrofitting an measuerement machine (built by students upon xcarve concept) into a beefed up xcarve machine. Chinese 2kw water cooled spindle with vfd. Beefier steppers, increased mechanical stiffness and so on.
And now also sketching on a laser cutter in fusion360.
Dreaming of a maker space, but i am living in a area where there is none... so I end up gathering the resources myself...
Best regards
Klas

Thanks Gene,
There has been a little change of plans, as I stumbled up on an old gcc/laserpro Marcury (gen1) with a fading 25W synrad tube. Has not measured its output yet, but got the dohickey the other week.
Now planning to replace the tube, new psu and new controller. (And new motor drivers, more on that in a separate thread)
