Do any of you know the story behind the Chinese laser engraving machines? When did these come to life, who were the first manufacturers of these? I see that Russ refers to some of the Chinese machines as "Redsail copies" I was almost buying an Epilog / Trotec machine that was way too small for my use and which was very expensive. After doing a good deal on the two Redsail machines we have at a maker-space in Oslo (https://bitraf.no), I decided to buy a CM1390 from the same supplier.

Good question- the earliest Youtube vid I see is from 2011- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsNsM4HDx-c
There were industrial lasers back to the 1960s, but I think they were closer to our current Fiber Lasers.....?
