When did the Chinese laser engravers come to life

Exhaust system via self-made low noise (24dB) exhaust system to make the machine as quiet as possible.

Do any of you know the story behind the Chinese laser engraving machines? When did these come to life, who were the first manufacturers of these? I see that Russ refers to some of the Chinese machines as "Redsail copies" I was almost buying an Epilog / Trotec machine that was way too small for my use and which was very expensive. After doing a good deal on the two Redsail machines we have at a maker-space in Oslo (https://bitraf.no), I decided to buy a CM1390 from the same supplier.

There were industrial lasers back to the 1960s, but I think they were closer to our current Fiber Lasers.....?
