I wasn't actively looking to get a larger machine, but I was scrolling Facebook marketplace a few weeks back and came across someone selling a non working Accuris Powersharp 12. I had never heard of said company, so I looked into it and found out it was a rebrand of the Taiwanese LTT ILS-3. Theyre well reviewed and have been built for about 30 years (this particular machine is a 2007 model). They retailed for about $12k new in 2007, and the seller was asking $125 for it, so my interest was peaked.
It's heavy.
Really, Really Heavy.
Built like a tank heavy.
The laser mounting plate and Z-axis mount are solid 10mm machined aluminum plates, and the entire case is something like 12-14 gauge steel. Engraving area is 660mm x 495mm, (much larger than the old K40). Mechanically it's like brand new.
There's no tube, it was originally equipped with an air-cooled rf excited synrad, but that apparently died and was not included. The seller said the controller was malfunctioning as well, but I wasn't too interested in using a parallel port anyway.....
Ive bought a 50watt cloudray tube, 60 watt MYJG LPSU, 4 DM542T stepperdrivers, and an RDC6445S. Ive identifed all the stepper motors for correct current settings, sorted out the OMRON optical limit switch pinouts and voltages, and traced out the rest of the electronics. I removed the control cards and will hopefully have the new controls installed by the weekend (girlfriend is busy every night this week, more time to spend in the shop

You can see that the old control interface would not fit the RDC Control screen, So I designed and printed a mount that I'm quite happy with.
A few questions:
Is there any differences or issues between the 6445G and 6445S?
I ordered from lightobject and was sent the S. I couldnt find any info online but it appears to be identical so far.
When importing the cloudray tube did anyone else get flagged for review by the FDA?
Something about radiation compliance, and/or they think I'm setting up an underground tatoo removal or laser hair removal studio... (all sorted now, filled out one form and they gave me my tube, lol)
If anyone has any advice I'm open to suggestions.
Thanks,
-James
